Kwadjo_Pic(250px)Kwadjo is a multi-award-winning producer with a formidable track record of delivering bold, ambitious and thought-provoking dramas. He will develop, produce and executive produce a large element of the drama slate

He began his career as a researcher and amassed over 25 credits before producing and directing numerous popular factual programmes including Airport (BBC1); Football Icon (Sky 1) and the RTS award-winning series, Big Ron Manager (Sky 1).

The objective is to turn great stories into compelling dramas with mainstream appeal. They’ll be ambitious in scale, provocative, uninhibited and elegant. We want Sugar Films to be the home of dramas that inspire, affect and move people.
Kwadjo Dajan, Drama Creative Director
In 2007, his ability to unearth compelling, access-driven true stories led to an offer to join ITV’s Factual Drama Department. Whilst there, Kwadjo developed and produced some of the most successful dramas in recent years. As developer and co-producer of Appropriate Adult, he received the BAFTA Breakthrough Talent Award – with the drama also picking up gongs for Best Actor (Dominic West); Best Actress (Emily Watson) and Best Supporting Actress (Monica Dolan).

Kwadjo’s reputation was further enhanced when he developed and produced the multi-award-winning Mrs Biggs. This was followed by the critically acclaimed mini-series The Widower and BAFTA-nominated series Cilla, which went on to become the two highest rating new dramas across all UK channels in 2014. His most recent production was Little Boy Blue in 2017, a universally praised drama about the murder of eleven year old school boy, Rhys Jones.

Kwadjo is uncompromising in his ambition and pursuit of the highest production values. His trademark style of packaging intelligent, and at times difficult subjects for mainstream audiences has established him amongst the UK’s leading producers

Narinder_Pic(250px)Narinder is an award-winning producer and creative leader, who spent his formative years at the BBC, rising through the ranks on Panorama to become Deputy Editor of the Money Programme.

He has been a commissioning editor at Channel 4 and also worked for some of the best indies, including Ten Alps and Nerd TV, across a range of genres and shapes. His ideas have attracted ‘first look’ development deals from Channel 4 International, Target and BBC Worldwide.

Creatively, we’ll be playful; having fun with form, making unusual connections, left-field castings and blurring boundaries to find the spaces between genres to create new and exciting hybrid shows.

As Director of Programmes at Diverse, he helped to build one of the most successful companies in British television, before selling his stake. From the edgy to the unashamedly populist, he has executive produced an eclectic range of shows, including The Girl With 7 Mums, 4thought.tv, Make Me A Muslim, James Hewitt: Confessions of Cad, The Private Life of Harley Street and 14 Alone (Cutting Edge).

Many of his programmes have won or been nominated for awards including: The Trouble With Black Men (RTS), White Tribe (Grierson), Who You Callin’ A Nigger (BAFTA), The Truth About Gay Animals (Grierson), Young Black Farmers (Banff Film Festival: Best Documentary Series), Science of Secrecy (Vega Science Trust: Best Documentary Series), Priest Idol (St Martins Trust: Best Documentary Series) and India’s Supersize Kids (Noida Film Festival: Best Documentary).

Pat_Pic(250px)Pat has 24 years experience working in News, Sport, Commissioning and Production across ITV, BBC and C4 and led a major American cable network, Travel Channel Media.

From 2010 Pat spent four years as Chief Creative Officer for BBC Production, with over £300m in revenues and 3,000 employees. His teams delivered some of the world’s biggest shows including Top Gear, Strictly Come Dancing, Dr Who, Frozen Planet, and Luther. In 2012, under Pat’s leadership, BBC Productions won one third of all the UK BAFTA programme awards, as well as Golden Globes, Emmy’s and RTS Awards.

The proliferation of broadcasters and platforms seeking quality content makes this the right time for us to launch Sugar Films. Our industry track records, commercial experience and creative vision enable us to build a global media power-house, which will simultaneously redefine the notion of diversity in our industry to be modern, mainstream and value creating.
Pat Younge, Managing Director
Prior to that, Pat was President /General Manager of Travel Channel Media USA (2005-2009), leading its turn-around by introducing award winning and globally popular brands including Man v Food and Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations. His stewardship boosted ratings, revenues and launched significant digital initiatives, culminating in a successful JV transaction valuing Travel Channel Media at $1bn in 2009.

At BBC Sport, Pat led the transformation of the 6 Nations rugby championship, including regular Sunday fixtures, prime-time kick-offs and a tournament climax day now known as Super Saturday. As a result ratings doubled and rugby union is now regularly broadcast in primetime. He has also been a commissioning editor at Channel 4, having started his career in news and current affairs at ITV and the BBC.
Pat has three children, and enjoys sport, movies and Sudoku, is a fellow of the RTS and the RSA, and is slowly writing his debut screenplay.
